From our years of experience in hosting guests throughout the World, Hotel Reservations.cx has collated numerous travel tips and information which may be helpful to visitors to our site. Following is a summary of this advice:
1) Be economical in your packing. Most people pack up to twice the clothing they actually wear whilst on tour. Take a look next time your at an airport at the number and size of suitcases each person seems to take with them. Check the weather outlook for your destination and plan accordingly.
2) If taking a laptop or other electrical appliances, be aware that different power systems in various parts of the world require different apparatus for connection. Many airport stores carry adapters which can attach to your laptop/appliance and fit into the electrical socket in the country of your destination. Again, plan ahead. If you get caught out most of the hotels in our system will be happy to help out. Most carry a range of adapters which they can loan out.
3) Another tip for laptop users. Many countries have differing telephone systems and you may require a special jack to attach to your laptop connections to connect to local telephone systems. Most of our hotels have modem connections through telephone handsets, or in many cases there are separate modems. Some hotels have two lines so you can receive and make telephone calls whilst working on the internet.
4) Be wary of hotel telephone charges. If in doubt ask before you use the phone. Many of the larger chain hotels in particular charge loadings sometimes of several hundred percent. In some countries hotels now too are charging for local calls of a long duration so as to capture people tying up telephone lines on the internet. London is particularly merciless in it's telephone and internet useage charging. One of our guests recently stayed at a well known London hotel and used the telephone for long periods accessing the internet. He understood he would only be charged for local calls and was expecting a bill of a few pounds. He was not at all happy when he was charged in excess of 1,000 pounds.
5) Be courteous to your hosts, whether the destination be domestic or international. Unfortunately people on holiday from all walks of life, tend to be outgoing, loud and demanding. Remember you are a visitor and if you are from a foreign land your attitude and your actions will reflect not only on you but on your country of origin.
